The Oakland Drive/Winchell Neighborhood Plan set goals for improving non-motorized connectivity and traffic safety in the neighborhood with Winchell Avenue listed as a top priority for traffic calming.

To calm traffic and increase bicycle connectivity, the following traffic calming measures were installed on Winchell Avenue in 2021:

  • Winchell Avenue was re-striped to right-size the vehicle lanes
  • Bike lanes were added
  • Signage and pavement markings designated school pick up/drop off and non-parking areas near Winchell Elementary
  • Speed radar signs were installed to bring awareness to speed & collect speed data
  • Stop sign added on westbound Winchell at Rambling
We are tracking speed data and collecting community input to see if these tools have been helpful. We’d love to hear your feedback! Please share your thoughts by completing the following survey.
